Dalton Petersen Trio ‘Live at Trio Jazz Club’ album release
Electric. That’s how Trio Jazz Club Owner Riccardo Tarabelsi describes The Dalton Petersen Trio. The trio has been a musical force in Sioux Falls and surrounding region since they first formed in 2016 while students at Augustana University. Having released an EP and Christmas single in 2023, the trio will now release their first LP ‘Live at Trio Jazz Club’ on December 6, 2024. The release will be celebrated with a live performance at Trio Jazz Club on December 7.
The trio consists of Dalton Petersen on bass, Christian DeJongh on drums, and Jeffrey Thormodsgard on keys. The album was recorded during a live performance at Trio Jazz Club on October 4 & 5. On November 8th, they released their first single, All of Me, from the upcoming album. Joining them on All of Me is vocalist Clay Ackerman and Nathaniel Pekas on trumpet.
Live at Trio Jazz Club spans ten tracks, blending a diverse range of styles, from reimagined rock covers and jazz standards to an original composition by Dalton Petersen himself. The live recording captures the ambient sounds of the audience, the synergy between the trio members, and the authenticity of the jazz club atmosphere, pulling listeners right into the experience. The album is rich with creative, melodic solos from each musician, pushing the boundaries of jazz and even venturing into avant-garde territory.
Celebrate the release of their upcoming album at Trio Jazz Club on Saturday, December 7. Shows at 6:30 & 9:00.
